The Late Shows: Nicole PolonskyThe Late Shows
Friday 17 May 2019
7–11pm

Especially for The Late Shows, for one night only Northern Print hosts Nicole Polonsky's Lighting Up Time, a dynamic installation inspired by the silent film era and the role of its deaf actors. The second part of  the piece will take place at Side Cinema on Sat 18 May 7-11pm.  Screenprinted banners with lines of text or 'intertitles' light up when viewers direct torches at them.  Each inscription is paired with a short composition by Andrew Lovett.

At 8.30 – 9.30pm a BSL interpreter will be available for Deaf visitors to discuss Lighting Up Time with the artist and gallery team.

Visit the Lighting Up Time page and listen to the compositions by clicking this link.

The gallery has also teamed up with the Northern Festival of Illustration to bring you Illustrating Print, an exhibition exploring the special place printmaking holds for artists and illustrators working today.  The show features work by Josie Brookes, Chris Daunt, Sara Ogilvie, Alice Pattullo Jimmy Turrell.

Read more about the exhibition here.

In the studio you can try your hand at printmaking, talk to studio artists Frances Arnold and Keith Gray and find out about our brand new programme of classes.
