Solar plate (also known as a photopolymer plate) is a relatively new etching process that does not require plates to be bitten in acid. Images can be created through a variety of sources from hand drawn images or digital or photographic techniques. After exposing the light sensitive plate to ultraviolet light the plate is developed in water where the soft areas are washed away to create a surface ready for printing. This process can create a printing plate that is extremely versatile and hard wearing. This course will be of interest to all but particularly suited to those working with photographic and digital images.
